Matt Hancock has admitted he is “very worried” about the impact of long Covid as it was estimated as many as 1.1million across the UK have the condition.

The ONS estimates that around 144,000 people in London are suffering from debilitating and persistent symptoms.

Meanwhile, Boris Johnson has said vaccine passports will “definitely” have a role to play when international travel opens up.

Speaking during a visit to Middlesbrough, the Prime Minister said: “There’s definitely going to be a world in which international travel will use vaccine passports.”

It came as the UK reported 51 more deaths from the disease, with the weekly total down 38.5 per cent on the previous seven days.
