Matt Hancock has announced that the coronavirus lockdown will be extended in Leicester amid a surge in Covid-19 cases.
The Health Secretary confirmed in the Commons that non-essential shops will close in the city from today, with schools to shut from Thursday.
Mr Hancock urged people to avoid non-essential travel and asked them to stay at home as much as possible.
It came as Prime Minister Boris Johnson prepared to unveil a multi-billion pound "new deal" for infrastructure projects to help stimulate the nation's recovery from the pandemic.
