
Boris Johnson today indicated that lockdown restrictions could be lifted on Monday "if we possibly can" as he returned to Parliament for the first time since his recovery from coronavirus.
The Prime Minister will set out plans for easing the lockdown in a speech on Sunday, with some measures possibly being introduced the following day.
It came as the official UK death toll from Covid-19 in hospitals, care homes and the wider community passed the grim milestone of 30,000 - the first country in Europe to report such a figure.
Meanwhile, Mr Johnson vowed to ramp up Covid-19 testing to 200,000-a-day by the end of May, despite the Government missing its 100k daily target for the fourth day running.
