France is heading into its third national lockdown from this weekend as President Emmanuel Macron warned “the epidemic is accelerating”.
In a TV address, Mr Macron announced that existing mini-lockdowns in Paris and other areas would be extended across the country for at least a month, while schools will shut for three weeks.
It came as the UK reported 43 more Covid-19 deaths, with the weekly total 40 per cent on the previous seven days.
Earlier, Robert Jenrick said the Government is “100 per cent confident” in the AstraZeneca vaccine as Pfizer announced its coronavirus jab is “safe” for children as young as 12.
