(Picture: PA)Contingency plans for Brexit will see millions of doses of the Covid-19 vaccine flown to Britain by military aircraft to avoid delays at ports, it is claimed.
Large consignments would be brought in from 1 January by air if road, rail and sea routes were subject to widely expected delays after that date, according to reports.
It comes as the NHS prepares for the largest scale immunisation programme in the country’s history - which health secretary Matt Hancock is said to be calling ”V-Day”.
People aged 80 and over, care home workers and NHS workers who are at higher risk will be the first to receive the jab.
But there is still no guaranteed date for when care home residents will be vaccinated despite them being at the top of the priority list, with Health Secretary Matt Hancock saying there are “significant challenges” to overcome.
