
The UK regulator today said a decision by Denmark to temporarily halt use of the Oxford/AstraZeneca vaccine is a "precautionary measure" and people should continue to get their jab.
Danish and Norwegian authorities have paused vaccine rollout after a small number of blood clots and one death were reported, though they have said there is no confirmed link to the vaccine. Meanwhile Italy banned a batch of AstraZeneca vaccine after concerns over deaths of two mean who had been recntly inoculated, it was reported.
The UK's Medicines and Healthcare products Regulatory Agency (MHRA) said evidence had not confirmed the vaccine caused the problems, and said people should still go and get their Covid-19 vaccine when asked to do so.
Meanwhile ministers are under pressure to confirm the return of foreign holidays after MPs said the initial target date of May 17 should be set in stone to provide certainty for consumers and businesses.
And the public is being urged to stand on their doorsteps and balconies at 8pm to slow handclap the Government over its proposal for a 1 per cent pay rise for NHS staff. Chancellor Rishi Sunak will also face questions over the plans as he is grilled by MPs over his Budget.
