
A test designed to tell whether someone has had coronavirus has been given the green light by Public Health England.
The approval paves way for it to be used as part of a mass NHS antibody testing programme and amounts to a long-awaited development Boris Johnson previously said could be a “game-changer”.
It came after millions of Britons returned to work in the first step of gradual lockdown easing across England, while Chancellor Rishi Sunak warned the UK faces a "significant recession".
In other news, the World Health Organisation has issued a stark warning on the pandemic's trajectory, saying it could take "four to five years" for the global outbreak to be under control.
