(Picture: Sky News)MPs have approved a month-long lockdown for England after scientists warned the NHS would be overwhelmed with thousands more deaths unless action is taken.
Plans for the second lockdown, which come into force on Thursday and run until December 2, were approved by 516 votes to 38, a majority of 478.
Earlier, during PMQs, Sir Keir Starmer urged Mr Johnson to show “some basic honesty” and reveal what will happen once the second lockdown measures expire next month, even if the Covid-19 infection rate is still increasing.
Mr Johnson said he has repeatedly stressed the lockdown restrictions will expire automatically on December 2 and he hopes “very much” to “get this country going again” in the run up to Christmas.
