The mystery person infected with the Manaus variant of coronavirus has been found in south London, Health Secretary Matt Hancock told a Downing Street briefing today.
Officials have been hunting for the unknown individual after several cases of the variant of concern were detected in the UK.
The news came as a leading union warned of industrial action over what it described as the Government’s “kick-in-the-teeth” recommendation of a 1 per cent pay rise for nurses and other health workers.
Unite national officer for health, Colenzo Jarrett-Thorpe said the union would be considering all its options, including the holding of an industrial action ballot, “as the pay campaign mounts in the coming weeks.”
