
Coronavirus cases in the UK are not expected to drop in a "sudden" fashion, England's chief medical officer Chris Whitty has said.
He told the Downing Street press conference: "We should not expect this to be a sudden fall away of cases.”
It comes as Dominic Raab a "second spike" prompted by a sudden lift of lockdown could make measures just be introduced again.
Meanwhile, the Covid-19 death toll in UK hospitals has risen to 18,100, amid claims that the true number of fatalities could be twice as high as official figures suggest.
