'Irresponsible' Liverpool fans who gathered for a mass celebration after the club's Premier League win could be increasing the risk of a rise in the coronavirus pandemic, a police chief has warned.

The public safety warning from Merseyside's top cop came after officers were forced to break up yet more illegal block parties in London, despite warnings over the potential risk to health amid the Covid-19 outbreak.

It comes as the UK's official virus death toll hit 43,514, after an additional 100 fatalities were reported .

Meanwhile, overseas holidays are set to be given the green light from early next month, with ministers set to scrap the 14-day quarantine period for a string of destinations. From July 6, the controversial quarantine arrangements will be replaced by a traffic light system.
