UK coronavirus LIVE: Hope for holidaymakers as 'air bridge' plan mulled by ministers

Ministers are mulling a plan that would allow British holidaymakers to travel as soon as this summer to destinations with low coronavirus infection rates.

Hopes were raised foreign travel could be allowed soon as Transport Secretary Grant Shapps approved of the so-called “air bridges” idea floated by senior Tory MP Huw Merriman.

It comes after Brits were warned they could have to learn to live with Covid-19 for many months or even "several years". Meanwhile, Downing Street suggested a decision on whether schools will return next month is likely to be made this week.
