London leaders are at loggerheads over whether all residents should be subjected to the same rules if lockdown restrictions are needed.
Mayor Sadiq Khan and health chiefs want the virus fought “as one city", but MPs in boroughs with low levels fear millions will be put under unnecessary curbs if a "one-size-fits-all" approach is applied.
It came as Boris Johnson wished US President Donald Trump and First Lady Melania a "speedy recovery" after the pair tested positive for coronavirus. Trump's senior aide Hope Hicks had earlier contracted the virus.
Meanwhile, the UK's coronavirus R rate has continued to creep up and could now be as high as 1.6. Scientific advisers said it is still "highly likely" that the epidemic is "growing exponentially" and that people should not be complacent.
