Boris Johnson will today face Keir Starmer at Prime Minister’s Questions as a row over the Government’s plan to reopen schools within two weeks deepens amid safety concerns.
Schools should only reopen if “safe to do so,” the British Medical Association said, but added that there was growing evidence the risk to children from coronavirus is “extremely small”.
The Labour leader's clash with Mr Johnson also follows the Chancellor Rishi Sunak's warning that the UK economy may not bounce back immediately from the crisis as some have predicted.
"We are likely to face a severe recession the likes of which we have never seen,” Mr Sunak told the Lord’s Economic Affairs Committee yesterday.
