UK coronavirus LIVE: Boris Johnson defends 'stay alert' strategy as PM faces grilling on 'three steps' out of lockdown

Boris Johnson addressed the press and the public for a second night running as he led Monday's Downing Street press briefing.

The Prime Minister was grilled on his coronavirus lockdown exit plan and new "stay alert" strategy following the release of the Government's full 50-page "road map" earlier today.

Brits are now advised to wear face coverings in some settings while ministers and advisers are considering moves to allowing meet-ups between different households.

Mr Johnson praised the “indomitable spirit of Britain” as he faced MPs in the House of Commons this afternoon, however, Labour leader Sir Keir Starmer accused him of leaving Brits with more questions than answers.

In other news, the UK death toll has passed 32,000 after an increase of 210 deaths and the Government finally met its 100,000-a-day testing target after falling short eight days in a row.
