
The coronavirus outbreak has plunged the world into "uncharted territory", the World Health Organisation (WHO) has said, as the global death toll soars above 3,000.
More than 89,000 cases of the Covid-19 virus have been declared across the world, with New York, Moscow and Berlin among the cities to confirm their first patients.
The latest figures emerged as Boris Johnson warned that a "very significant expansion" of the disease was now "likely" in the UK, where the number of cases has reached 39.
Airlines have continued to cancel flights, and schools and offices have closed, amid fears of the economic fallout which the Organisation for Economic Co-operation and Development warned could be as bad as the aftermath of the 2008 financial crash.
