UK coronavirus hospital death toll figure rises to 30,736

Some 183 reported deaths in 24 hours has taken the UK's official coronavirus hospital death toll has risen to 30,736

There were 146 new deaths in England, 22 in Scotland, 14 in Wales and one in Northern Ireland

Saturday's daily rise of 183 is up from 177 on Friday, but down from 213 on Thursday and 209 on Wednesday.

It is also down from last Saturday's rise of 282 on May 23 and 468 on May 16.

Today's figures record hospital deaths only.

The full figures from across all settings, including care homes, will be released in this evening's daily Downing Street Covid-19 news briefing.

The UK's true death toll, collated by the Office for National Statistics, is more than 47,300 based on death certificates from England, Wales, Scotland and Northern Ireland.

The public has been urged to adhere to social distancing rules this weekend as soaring temperatures have seen the beaches and parks attract large crowds.

Yesterday the authorities warned the public over visiting Sefton's beaches, which have become overcrowded during the warm spell.

Police received numerous reports of excessive littering, fires and barbecues being lit on beaches such as Formby and Ainsdale.

Yesterday around 100 cars were seen parked up on Ainsdale beach.
