UK coronavirus deaths rise by another 180 to reach over 1400 in total

A further 180 people who tested positive for the c oronavirus have died, bringing the total number of confirmed reported deaths in the UK to 1,415.

NHS England said 159 of the latest registered deaths came in England, which now accounts for 1,284 of the o verall UK death figure.

In England, those to sadly have their deaths recorded in the past 24 hours were aged between 32 and 98 years old and all but 4 patients (aged between 56 and 87 years old) had underlying health conditions.

The NHS has released a detailed breakdown of which Hospital Trusts have recorded the latest deaths - none of them came at Merseyside Hospitals.


However one death was recorded at Warrington and Halton Teaching Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust, with the death recorded on March 28.

So far there have been six confirmed COVID-19 deaths in Merseyside, with one in Liverpool and five in Wirral.

We are expecting to hear from a senior member of government on the latest coronavirus news this afternoon.

Prime Minister Boris Johnson, Health Secretary Matt Hancock and Chief Medical Officer are all now in isolation because of the virus.

It is thought Foreign Secretary Dominic Raab could head up today's event.
