The UK’s death toll for coronavirus has risen by 43, the health ministry has announced.
A total of 42,632 people have died after testing positive for the virus as of Saturday afternoon, according to figures released by the Department for Health and Social Care (DHSC) on Sunday.
The number of infections has risen to 304,331.
This is an increase of more than 1,200 from the day before.
The new death toll means more than 42,600 people have died across hospitals, care homes and the wider community after testing positive for coronavirus in the UK.
However, there were no new coronavirus-linked deaths announced in NorthernIreland, where the death toll recorded by the national health ministry stayed at 545 on Sunday.
Scotland also reported no new deaths in the country from the day before – the fifth day this month this has happened.
A total of 2,472 patients have died after testing positive for Covid-19, according to Scottish government figures.
The DHSC figures for the UK do not include all deaths involving Covid-19, which is thought to have passed 53,000.
The UK health ministry said in the 24-hour period up to 9am on Sunday, 175,018 tests were carried out or dispatched, with 1,221 positive results.
Overall, a total of 7,890,145 tests have been carried out.
The figure for the number of people tested has been "temporarily paused to ensure consistent reporting" across all methods of testing, the DHSC said on Sunday.
