UK coronavirus death toll rises by 25 in past 24 hours - another 814 people test positive

The number of people who have died after testing positive for coronavirus has now reached 43,575.

The figure is up by 25 from the day before at 43,550, and includes people that have died in hospitals, care homes and the wider community.

Another 814 people have tested positive for the virus since yesterday.

The Department of Health said: "As of 9am 29 June, there have been 9,290,215 tests, with 93,881 tests on 28 June. 311,965 people have tested positive.

"As of 5pm on 28 June, of those tested positive for coronavirus, across all settings, 43,575 have sadly died."

A further 19 people who tested positive for coronavirus have died in hospital in England, bringing the total number of confirmed reported deaths in hospitals in England to 28,672, NHS England said.

Patients were aged between 60 and 96 years old. All had known underlying health conditions.

Public Health Wales said a further three people had died after testing positive for Covid-19, taking the total number of deaths to 1,507, while the total number of cases increased by 116 to 15,717.

Scotland has confirmed five new cases, but no new deaths for the fourth day running.

And in Northern Ireland, one further death was reported and one new case of coronavirus in the past day.
