UK coronavirus death toll increases by 43 with lowest hospital deaths since March 17

A further 43 people were recorded as having died with coronavirus in the UK in the latest update from the government.

The increase takes the total number of deaths in all settings to 42,632.

Today's increase was up seven on last Sunday, and means the rolling seven-day average for deaths in all UK hospitals is now 64.43.

Across all settings, the rolling seven-day average for deaths now stands at 133.43.

The number of cases increased by 1,221 from 175,018 tests - though once again the Department of Health and Social Care, who release the figures, did not say how many people were actually tested over the last 24 hours.

26 of the deaths were recorded in NHS England hospitals, while Merseyside recorded a single death across the whole of the region in today's figures.
