UJJAIN: Chief minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan on Sunday said, “Ujjain is going to become a science and industrial hub and it will lead the country in both the sectors. This is the beginning of a new era,” during his visit to the temple town.
Chouhan was addressing a public gathering at Kalidasa Academy community centre during the online launching of an auditorium of a newly-developed observatory in Dongla village of Mahidpur tehsil.
Chouhan also dedicated five oxygen plants at Nagda and other areas, a hospital at Madhav Nagar, and a 50-bed child care ward at Ujjain’s Charak Hospital to the public. He also laid foundation stones to eight development projects proposed under Smart City initiative.
Addressing the public, Chouhan said that several cloth mills used to operate in Ujjain district before Independence and thousands of people were employed. But the mills were closed down for some reason. “We are going to start the industries in Ujjain again. We are going to set up at least six new industrial units at a cost of Rs700 crore,” he said.
Speaking about the new observatory in Dongla village, Chouhan said, “The observatory will guide the country in the field of astronomy and people will be benefited from it. Ujjain is a city of religion and spirituality”.
