Ugly Betty fans are celebrating the news that the show is coming to Disney+.

Airing from 2006 to 2010, the comedy series told the story of Betty Suarez (America Ferrera), a poorly dressed young woman who ends up working at a major fashion magazine.

The show ran for four seasons and was broadcast on Channel 4 in the UK. Now, as part of the launch of the Star channel on Disney+ on 23 February, UK viewers will be able to watch the show along with 74 other TV series and 276 films.

However, it was Ugly Betty that excited subscribers in particular, with the show’s name trending on Twitter in response to the news.

Ugly Betty coming to Disney+ is the best news of the year so far,” one fan commented.

“All of this new stuff coming to Disney plus is amazing,” one tweet read. “Cannot wait to rewatch Ugly Betty, Desperate Housewives and more!”

“I can finally finish Ugly Betty,” another fan commented, while one subscriber tweeted: “You best believe, I will be rewatching Ugly Betty.”

Another fan commented: “I will be watching Ugly Betty ASAP! I have the DVDs somewhere but can’t be bothered to find them, so this is good news.”

As well as serving as a springboard for Ferrera’s career, Ugly Betty contained an impressive supporting cast which included Tony Plana, Vanessa Williams, Judith Light and Rebecca Romijn.

Ferrera won the 2007 Golden Globe for Best Leading Actress in a Comedy Series for her performance as Betty, while the show was also named Best Comedy Series in the same year.
