Police said that following the complaint an undercover agent posing as a customer contacted the women through WhatsApp.
He agreed to pay a total of 5,000 baht for sexual services provided by both women, tourist police inspector Pol Lt Col Winit Boonchit said.
The suspects, identified as Janat Nakalema, 32, and Mariam Namatovu, 29, were apprehended on Sunday night at an unnumbered house in Village 2 in tambon Koh Phangan. A foreign customer was also present.
The women admitted to offering their services on the island for more than two months and said most of their customers were foreigners, Pol Lt Col Winit said.
They had been hired by about 180 men in the last two months, three or four a day, the suspects said. Each of them had earned as much as 500,000 baht per month, most of which had been sent to their families in Uganda.
They were taken into custody at Koh Phangan police station for legal proceedings, Pol Lt Col Winit said.
