Uganda's women say enough is enough

Uganda's women say enough is enough

Protesters marched to the Ugandan police headquarters on Tuesday, accusing authorities of an inadequate and slow response to recent kidnappings and murders.

In a petition, activists from the Women's Protest Working Group claim several kidnappings of Ugandan women have gone unsolved, with more than 30 found sexually assaulted and brutally murdered, even after relatives paid ransom money.

They say police are not giving ordinary citizens enough protection, calling on the security services to deal with the cases effectively with a conclusive investigation.

Many have taken to social media to call for justice.

Al Jazeera’s Raheela Mahomed reports.
