UGA to sell alcohol at Sanford Stadium next season

Georgia’s Sanford Stadium is one of the few college football venues that doesn’t sell alcohol to its fans, but that is set to change next season. On Wednesday, Georgia athletic director Josh Brooks confirmed the news that UGA will begin to sell alcohol to all fans starting next season.

The announcement came on Wednesday afternoon during the Georgia Athletic Association board of directors’ winter meeting at the Georgia Center. It was only a matter of time before UGA made this move. The Bulldogs already sell alcohol at basketball, baseball and tennis events.

Now beer and seltzer will be available to fans of drinking age during Georgia football’s six-game home slate in the fall. UGA and Auburn were the last two SEC schools to make the change, both in 2024.

According to USA Today, 117 of 133 FBS schools (88%) had alcohol available for fans to purchase last season. That number is expected to be over 90% in 2024.
