UGA’s Nicolas Claxton impresses in NBA debut

Former Georgia Bulldog Nicolas Claxton impressed in his NBA debut last night for the Brooklyn Nets. Claxton is seeing action due to the ankle injury to Nets’ center DeAndre Jordan.

The Nets won over the Portland Trailblazers in Claxton’s first game. Claxton played just twelve minutes, but earned attention with his impressive line: eight points, six rebounds, and one assist. Will this be enough for Claxton to earn playing time when Jordan returns?

Claxton’s first NBA bucket was a special one:

Nicolas Claxton was criticized by some for leaving school early to go to the NBA, but he is an NBA-ready player, especially on the defensive side of the ball. Claxton has to refine his offensive game some. Playing center may be tough for him until he adds some more muscle. With more and more NBA teams running smaller line-ups, it wouldn’t be unusual for Claxton to spend a decent amount of time at the five.
