UGA’s Kevin Butler has advice for Bears’ legend Robbie Gould

UGA’s Kevin Butler has some advice for San Francisco 49ers and former Chicago Bears kicker Robbie Gould. Gould has ended contract negotiations and is refusing to sign the franchise tag. Gould wants a trade. But Georgia Bulldog and Chicago Bears legend Kevin Butler thinks he should steer clear of Chicago per Jeff Dickerson of ESPN:

“I’ve always said it to Robbie, be careful what you wish for sometimes, because it’s not easy to kick in Chicago,” Butler said on ESPN 1000’s Waddle and Silvy Show on Tuesday. “It’s certainly not easy to kick in San Francisco, but he’s found a situation out there where he’s been as good as there is. Can you duplicate that by coming back to Chicago? I don’t know. … It’s a scary thing to mess with your legacy.”

I don’t think Gould should worry about his legacy as much as Kevin Butler suggests. Gould would have more pressure upon a return to Chicago, but could improve his legacy their as well. Gould is already a legendary kicker for the Chicago Bears. The Bears could have used Gould last season when Cody Parkey hit the post numerous times and ultimately cost them a potential trip to the NFC Divisional Round.

Gould could find a potential contender with a need at kicker elsewhere too.
