UGA rookie headed to Super Bowl for second straight season

Georgia’s Mecole Hardman is headed to play in the Super Bowl. Hardman and the Kansas City Chiefs ended a fifty year Super Bowl drought with their 35-24 win in the AFC Championship over the Tennessee Titans.

Mecole Hardman drew a key pass interference penalty to help ice the AFC Championship. Now, he’ll be playing in the Super Bowl instead of the Pro Bowl. Not a bad season for an NFL rookie.

Hardman, Patrick Mahomes, and the Kansas City Chiefs will face their toughest test to date: the San Francisco 49ers. The 49ers don’t feature any former Georgia Bulldogs on their roster. The Super Bowl is expected to be a great one.

The 49ers have an elite defensive line that is capable of wrecking a game. Mecole Hardman, Tyreek Hill, Travis Kelce and the explosive Chief offense will make big plays, but will their offensive line be able to protect Patrick Mahomes enough to develop plays?

Last season, the Super Bowl was a battle of UGA running backs: Todd Gurley versus Sony Michel. Michel won the battle as a rookie, but didn’t make it back their this season. Hardman is the second consecutive rookie from UGA to play in the Super Bowl.
