UGA remains outside Kirk Herbstreit’s top four

The Georgia Bulldogs beat the Tennessee Volunteers by thirty-one in Knoxville. Georgia certainly looked impressive, but no unbeatable. Ohio State put together an impressive 34-10 victory over Michigan State in what may be their most impressive performance to date. Both Alabama and Clemson had bye weeks before conference games. LSU blew out a pesky Utah State team and Oklahoma blew out Kansas after a closer than expected start.

Unfortunately, the Florida Gators had the biggest win of the week in a 24-13 home victory over the seventh ranked Auburn Tigers. The Gators looked good, but Auburn quarterback Bo Nix was inaccurate. Auburn has a formidable defense. No break is earned for Florida, who has to travel to Death Valley on Saturday night to face Joe Burrow and the explosive LSU offense.

Lots to consider when thinking of the four best teams in college football. Here’s Kirk Herbstreit’s top four:

Once again, Georgia doesn’t make the cut. The SEC will sort itself out. One interesting possibility would be a one-loss ACC champion in Clemson being compared to a one-loss non-champion from the SEC. Would be a nightmare the CFB Playoff committee.
