UGA quarterback Jake Fromm speaks highly of freshman Dwan Mathis

There’s been some question as to whether UGA starting quarterback Jake Fromm will stay with the program after the upcoming 2019 season or instead enter the NFL Draft, but Fromm himself seems to think that regardless, the future of UGA is in good hands with freshman quarterback Dwan Mathis.

“The guy can run the ball around; he can throw it 70 yards,” Fromm told a group of reporters. “He’s going to be a good player.”

Mathis, who was originally committed to Ohio State, flipped his decision on the first day of the early signing period, taking his talents to Athens instead. The last-minute decision came just days after former Bulldog quarterback Justin Fields announced he was entering the transfer portal and later joined the Buckeyes.

A four-star quarterback, Mathis stands 6’4″ and also has elite quickness that allows him to pick up yards when plays break down.

This great potential has clearly caught Fromm’s attention and should also be of excitement to the rest of the Bulldog faithful.
