UGA great Todd Gurley congratulates Ezekiel Elliott on new contract

For a little over a year, former Georgia football superstar Todd Gurley was the highest-paid running back in the NFL.

Yesterday, however, Ezekiel Elliott signed a six-year, $90 million extension with the Dallas Cowboys, paying him $15 million a year and making the former Buckeye the NFL’s top paid ball carrier. For reference, Gurley’s contract averages out to $14.375 million per year.

If I’m Zeke or any other top tier NFL running back, I’m sending Gurley a very shiny, generous Christmas gift this year.

Why? Because Gurley was the player responsible for setting a new standard for elite NFL running backs with his massive deal he signed last year.

Gurley’s contract, a 4 year, $57.5 million deal that includes a $21 million signing bonus, $45 million guaranteed and an average annual salary of $14.375 million, reset the running back market for the top guys.

Gurley had no problems with Zeke taking over as the league’s highest paid back. He actually took to Twitter to congratulate his friend on his new contract.
