UGA coach Kirby Smart enthusiastic after scrimmage

After his team’s first scrimmage did not meet his expectations, UGA football head coach Kirby Smart seemed much more enthusiastic after his team’s second and final preseason scrimmage on Saturday.

“I thought we had a much more spirited scrimmage. It was still hot out there, probably not as humid as it was last time,” Smart told a group of reporters. “We didn’t have the rain delay this time, but they started out a lot better, started out a lot faster, a lot more competitive, I thought both ones units played better, which means the two units probably didn’t play as well. There were some explosive plays in the scrimmage and I was proud of the competitive toughness.”

With the season now just two weeks away from kicking off in Nashville against Vanderbilt, it’s imperative that the Dawgs are on top of their game in these scrimmages so that they will be ready for a season with championship expectations.
