UGA basketball coach Tom Crean issues high praise for Anthony Edwards

Anthony Edwards, the No. 1 prospect in the nation for 2019, is expected to make an immediate impact on the court for Georgia this season.

However, he has some work to do if he wants to surpass Victor Oladipo and Dwyane Wade as Coach Tom Crean’s most successful player.

With that being said, the second-year Bulldogs coach had some high praise for Edwards on Tuesday.

Crean told college basketball insider John Rothstein that the freshman was one of the most talented players he’s ever seen.

Tom Crean tells me that Georgia freshman Anthony Edwards' "explosiveness and athleticism" are unlike anything he's been a part of as a head coach or an assistant coach.

Edwards is a potential top-five pick in the 2020 NBA Draft.

Though the Bulldogs have not tipped off yet, we’ll quickly learn if Edwards is the real deal with the Maui Invitational beginning against Dayton on November 25th.

Georgia begins its season a few weeks earlier against Western Carolina on November 5th.
