UFL Sept. 12 patch notes: Database update, gameplay overhaul, Team Pass, and more

UFL is gearing up for its most significant update yet, arriving on Sept. 12, and it promises to be a game-changer for the free-to-play football simulator. Players can look forward to a full gameplay overhaul, the debut of a new chemistry system, and the long-awaited introduction of Legends, all designed to add depth and variety to the pitch.

This update signals a pivotal evolution for UFL as it continues to compete with heavyweight football titles in the genre. By reworking its core systems, the developers aim to create a more seamless yet rewarding experience that balances accessibility with long-term progression. For fans, this means a football sim that feels more polished and offers compelling reasons to stay invested for the long run.

Here’s everything you need to know about the Sept. 12 update in UFL.

The Sept. 12 update for UFL is set to be one of the game’s most impactful patches yet, with sweeping gameplay changes designed to reshape every moment on the pitch. One of the standout improvements comes from a complete overhaul of the passing system.

For quite a while, players have voiced frustrations over inconsistent accuracy and sluggish responsiveness, and the development team has taken those concerns head-on with a rebuild that makes ball control feel sharper and far more reliable. Dribbling mechanics have also been reworked, giving players smoother and more realistic movement when carrying the ball.

Tackling has received a fresh layer of polish, with updated animations and improved defensive interactions that make challenges feel both fair and authentic. Beyond mechanics, the visual experience is also getting a significant upgrade, with enhanced lighting and more detailed pitch graphics that elevate the atmosphere of every match.

Link Up chemistry system

The new “Link-Up” chemistry system is a major change that replaces the older team chemistry mechanics with something far more intuitive and player-friendly. Instead of relying on rigid rules, the new approach focuses on meaningful connections between players, rewarding smart squad-building choices while still staying true to football culture.

Traits like nationality, league, play style, and even club affiliation all factor into how well your team gels on the pitch. What makes this system stand out is how it directly influences performance. Players who share strong links with their teammates receive attribute boosts, while real-world connections, like teammates who play together in professional leagues, translate into in-game bonuses.

Building around nationality and league combinations adds a new layer of strategy, giving managers more freedom to create squads that feel both authentic and competitive. Perfectly linked squads can even unlock unique abilities, pushing creativity in team-building further than ever before.

Player cards reworked

One of the biggest overhauls in UFL’s upcoming update is the complete transformation of the player progression system. Instead of relying on skin-based upgrades, the game is moving toward a full card-collection model. To make the transition smooth, all existing skins will automatically be converted into player cards, and the bonuses players have already unlocked will remain intact.

This ensures no progress is lost while opening up new progression opportunities. The card system itself brings several exciting changes designed to add both depth and accessibility.

Base cards will be available through packs and the Transfer Market at reduced prices, making it easier for newcomers to build competitive squads. Enhanced (Mastery) cards, on the other hand, introduce advanced mechanics and work seamlessly with the new Link-Up chemistry system, rewarding experienced players who want to dive deeper into strategy.

Unlike the old progression model, each card now comes with fixed attributes rather than gradual stat increases, shifting the focus toward collection and squad optimization.

This collection-based progression makes team-building more engaging and levels the playing field for players at different stages of the game. Importantly, all current assets will carry over into this system, ensuring veteran players keep the value of their investments while new players gain fairer, more affordable entry points into UFL’s ecosystem.

Team pass and Legends system

UFL is raising the stakes with one of its most exciting features yet: the arrival of legendary players. The first confirmed Legend is an Italian icon, set to be officially revealed on Sept. 12. What makes this addition even more appealing is that new Legends will be introduced every month with the Team Pass, keeping the game fresh while celebrating some of football’s most unforgettable names.

For fans, this means the chance to mix historic greats with modern stars and build dream squads that truly bridge generations of football. The Legends system isn’t just about nostalgia; it’s about giving players aspirational content that feels both meaningful and rewarding. Each new addition represents a piece of football history, turning the game into a space where creativity and passion for the sport come alive.

Alongside this, UFL is also introducing its adidas-backed Team Pass, offering monthly progression tracks filled with exclusive rewards, premium content, and special events. Launching in September and October, the Team Pass brings brand partnerships and unique challenges, ensuring there’s always something new to work toward as players build and refine their squads.

UFL’s roadmap after the Sept. 12 version 0.67 update sets the stage for a packed end to 2025, with several major milestones designed to keep momentum strong. The first big highlight comes in October with a Halloween event, bringing themed content and limited-time rewards to keep players engaged with fresh seasonal experiences.

The long-awaited PC release is expected in November or December, a move that will significantly expand UFL’s reach beyond consoles. By tapping into the massive audience of keyboard-and-mouse players, this launch marks a crucial step in boosting the game’s competitive presence and global accessibility.

Esports also takes the spotlight, with an offline LAN championship being in the works, as confirmed by the developers. This event reinforces UFL’s commitment to building a serious competitive ecosystem, offering professionals a stage to showcase their skills while engaging fans through top-tier gameplay.

Developers have also promised steady updates in the weeks ahead, fine-tuning mechanics and expanding content based on community feedback. With over 5.2 million registered players, star ambassadors from Real Madrid and Barcelona, the monthly Legends system, and the adidas-backed Team Pass, UFL is rapidly positioning itself as a strong rival to EA FC, combining free-to-play access with depth for both casual and competitive football fans.
