UFC to return to UK with Liverpool and Manchester events in 2022

The UFC will return to the UK later this year with Liverpool and Manchester cards provisionally booked.

That's according to UFC London fighter Paul Craig, who revealed the news at the media day being held ahead of this weekend's Fight Night in the capital.

Craig told media members that venues have been provisionally booked, with UFC president Dana White previously confirming that he's keen to continue to bring events to England.

Speaking earlier this year, White said that the show had been in some doubt due to a rise in Covid-19 cases throughout the nation.

On the UFC coming to London, White told BT Sport: "Every time we put on an event in London it’s an unbelievable experience.

"The fans are incredible, and the fights are always off the charts. It’s a different kind of energy in England. And I can’t wait to get back there with a fight card on March 19th."

This weekend's card will be a stacked one, as heavyweight Tom Aspinall will be the main man on the night, headlining the event to face #5-ranked heavyweight Alexander Volkov. Aspinall could volt himself into championship contention, and find himself fighting the likes of Ciryl Gane, Stipe Miocic, Francis Ngannou, and potentially, Jon Jones.

Elsewhere on the card, potentially the most exciting male fighter coming out of Britain, Liverpool's Paddy Pimblett fights Rodrigo 'Kazula' Vargas.

While Molly McCann will also fight on the card after coming off recent emphatic victories, taking on Luana Carolina.

A number of British fighters have been given huge opportunities, with some making their debuts and others looking to build their reputation.

The UFC has held cards at both Liverpool and Manchester before, with Darren Till and Michael Bisping headlining cards in their respective hometowns.
