UFC targets Vicente Luque vs. Randy Brown rebooking for Aug. 1 event

The UFC is close to finalizing Vicente Luque vs. Randy Brown for the second time.

The matchup originally scheduled for April 11 but canceled due to the COVID-19 pandemic and is now being targeted for the upcoming UFC vent on Aug. 1. A venue or location has not been revealed.

A person with knowledge of the situation confirmed the booking to MMA Junkie on Monday, after Brown referenced the bout on a Twitch stream. The person asked to remain anonymous as the promotion has yet to make an announcement. Additionally, Luque’s representation, Dominance MMA, confirmed the fight on Instagram.

After the April 11 bout cancelation, Luque (18-7-1 MMA, 11-3 UFC) was booked against Niko Price on the UFC’s return from COVID-19 hiatus on May 9. In a back-and-forth slugfest, Luque defeated Price by strikes in Round 3.

Brown (12-3 MMA, 6-3 UFC) is riding a two-fight winning streak entering the Aug. 1 matchup. After losing to Price in July 2018, Brown rebounded with back-to-back finishes against Bryan Barberena and Warlley Alves.

With the addition, the current Aug. 1 lineup includes:

  • Holly Holm vs. Irene Aldana
  • Derek Brunson vs. Edmen Shahbazyan
  • Markus Perez vs. Eric Spicely
  • Yana Kunitskaya vs. Ketlen Vieira
  • Trevin Giles vs. Jun Yong Park
  • Ed Herman vs. Da Un Jung
  • Randy Brown vs. Vicente Luque
