UFC Sacramento bonuses: Team Alpha Male fighters take home three of four awards

SACRAMENTO, Calif. – Six Team Alpha Male fighters stepped into the cage on Saturday night, and three of them took home $50,000 bonuses.

The famed California team’s Urijah Faber, Josh Emmett and Andre Fili all took home “Performance of the Night” bonuses for their victories at Saturday’s UFC on ESPN+ 13 event at Golden1 Center in Sacramento, Calif.

UFC officials announced the winners following the event, which streamed on ESPN+.

Jonathan Martinez also took home the evening’s fourth and final “Performance of the Night” award. No “Fight of the Night” award was issued.

Faber (35-10 MMA, 11-6 UFC), the hometown hero, returned from retirement to compete at Saturday’s event and delivered, bringing the crowd to its feet with an incredible 46-second knockout of a gritty Ricky Simon and claiming a $50,000 bonus in the process.

Emmett (15-2 MMA, 6-2 UFC) showed once again why he’s quickly becoming one of the most feared strikers at 145 pounds when he used a pinpoint jab to send the highly-respected Mirsad Bektic to the canvas, then followed up with punches to secure the first-round stoppage and the extra income.

Fili (20-6 MMA, 8-5 UFC) admitted his emotions were high heading into a clash with dangerous striker Sheymon Moraes but showed he’s continuing to improve as a fighter, perfectly timing counter techniques that saw him earn the first-round finish and a “Performance of the Night” award.

The lone non-Alpha Male fighter to collect a bonus, Martinez (11-2 MMA, 2-1 UFC) was having some issues figuring out the rhythm of Lie Pingyuan but executed a brilliantly timed knee in the third round to send his Chinese opponent crashing to the floor and picking up an additional $50,0000.
