NEW YORK _ Mixed martial arts fighter Conor McGregor pleaded guilty Thursday to his role in starting a fight at Barclays Center in April.
McGregor received five days community service and was ordered to take anger management classes and stay away from three of the other combatants.
McGregor was arrested after the April 5 fracas where he allegedly brought in people from Ireland to Brooklyn to attack a bus carrying Ultimate Fighting Championship fighter Khabib Nurmagomedov. McGregor was upset that Nurmagomedov took over as UFC champ due to McGregor's inactivity.
He faced felony criminal mischief and other charges for the attack _ captured on video _ during a scheduled UFC media day.
On June 14, McGregor offered an apology for his behavior. "I regret my actions that led to today," he told reporters. "I understand the seriousness of this matter and I'm hopeful this will get worked out."
"This is a fair resolution that holds the defendant accountable, ensures restitution for the victims and requires the defendant to perform community service where he can reflect on his conduct and give back to society," a spokesman for the Brooklyn district attorney said Thursday.
