UFC rising star Sean O'Malley compares himself to Conor McGregor

UFC rising star Sean O'Malley isn't short on confidence after comparing himself to the biggest star in the fight game.

'The Sugar Show' reckons the pair are cut from the same cloth, with his fighting style and personality mirroring that of the Dubliner during his ascent to the top.

In an interview with MMA Junkie, he said: “We are pretty similar in fight styles, you know we knock people out in the first round.”

“We aren’t afraid to say how we feel, the fight is gonna play out. We have similar styles, we are explosive strikers. I knock people out in the first round and he knocks people out in the first round, so yeah, I think there’s a similarity there.“

And the 25-year-old has plenty to back up the bold claims, he'll co-main event UFC 252 this weekend as he bids to extend his 12-0 record.

The American has scored two performance of the night bonuses in his two fights this year - with a vicious knockout of Eddie Wineland at UFC 250 earlier this summer.

He now faces a step up in challenger in the form of Marlon Vera at UFC 252 this weekend, but a win for O'Malley can potentially push him into the top ten of the UFC's bantamweight rankings.
