UFC re-signs commentator Brendan Fitzgerald to multi-year contract

Brendan Fitzgerald will remain cageside on UFC commentary for several years to come.

Fitzgerald has signed a new contract to remain one of the primary voices and personalities associated with the UFC brand, the promotion announced on Friday.

A person with knowledge of the situation told MMA Junkie that Fitzgerald’s contract – which is his second with the company – has a multi-year term.

After Jon Anik was promoted to the UFC’s lead play-by-play position in the aftermath of Mike Goldberg’s departure, the organization Fitzgerald needed another play-by-play voice to help cover its treacherous schedule of 42 events per year.

Fitzgerald made a strong impression with his work on the early seasons of Dana White’s Contender Series, and before long started getting frequent assignments.

Beyond his work in the booth, Fitzgerald’s various roles with the UFC include the host of “One the Line” on UFC Fight Pass and host of his own “Fitz Nation Podcast” on UFC Fight Pass.

Fitzgerald expressed his gratitude for the new contract on social media (via Twitter):

Some news. Very grateful for my position with @UFC. It’s a job that’s a hell of a lot of fun and has made me a better person. A sincere thank you to the great people who I work with for making it that way and thanks to all the fans for amazing support over the years. 🙏🏻
