UFC president details phone call with Conor McGregor after Machine Gun Kelly altercation

Dana White spoke to UFC star Conor McGregor and rapper Machine Gun Kelly after their incident at the MTV Video Awards - and insists there is no lasting animosity.

McGregor and Kelly - real name Colson Baker - were involved in an altercation at the awards in New York last Sunday with video footage of the incident showing McGregor throwing a punch and his drink.

Reports suggested McGregor had asked Baker for a photograph, but these claims were later denied by the UFC star and his team.

McGregor has played down the incident stating there is no rivalry between the pair, telling Baker and Fox they are welcome to attend at his next fight which will likely take place next year.

And White backed up McGregor's comments as he revealed he spoke to both men about the incident.

He said following Tuesday's Contender Series event: "I talked to both, actually. They’re all good now. (It was) a misunderstanding, or whatever it was.

“Guys, this is the fight business. I've got 700 f****** lunatics under contract here. What do you guys think – these are the things that happen sometimes. This isn’t Microsoft; we’re in a crazy f****** business here.

“I think we all know Conor’s personality, and we’ve got some guys that are like that. These guys are fighters, and this is the fight business. Crazy s*** happens in the fight business.

“There’s all the s*** that you guys know about because it happens in public. Never mind the s*** you don’t know about that happens every day.”

With celebrity boxing being at the forefront of combat sports in the past year, it's no surprise that bookmakers were quick to catch on to the incident.

Odds released for a potential boxing match between the pair saw McGregor favoured at a massive 1/50.

And the UFC star said whilst he doesn't know who Baker is, he is familiar with Baker's partner Megan Fox who has been attending UFC events for several years.

He told Adam’s Apple : "I was just going to have a good time, you know what I mean? That’s it, all love, it’s all good. Come to the next fight, come watch me perform any time. I’ll perform, no problem.

"Everyone is more than welcome to come to my fights, to the shows.

“There’s no beef. I don’t even know the guy. I don’t even know him. Who is he? You’re telling me he’s been at the fights.

"Megan has been at the fights for years. I know Megan. I don’t know the guy. There’s no problem. Come to the fights. There’s no problem.”
