UFC on ESPN 5 draws announced crowd of 10,427 for $688K gate

NEWARK, N.J. – The UFC’s first event at Prudential Center in more than three years drew a reported attendance of 10,427 for a live gate of $687,778.

UFC officials announced the figures following the conclusion of Saturday’s UFC on ESPN 5 event, which took place at the venue with a special start time of 12 p.m. ET

While the number of free of “comp” tickets issued was not revealed, the figures mark an average revenue generated of $65.96 per ticket issued for the card.

The full card aired live on ESPN.

In the night’s main event, Colby Covington (15-1 MMA, 10-1 UFC) returned from more than a year on the sidelines and whitewashed Robbie Lawler (28-14 MMA, 13-8 UFC) over the course of five rounds, seemingly guaranteeing himself a shot at welterweight champ Kamaru Usman.

UFC on ESPN 5 marked the promotion’s eighth trip to Newark, but the first since “UFC on FOX 18: Johnson vs. Bader” in Januray 2016. That event drew a reported 10,555 fans for an $818,000 gate.
