UFC on ESPN+ 20 reactions: Winning and losing fighters on social media

Since the early days when the sport was anything but a mainstream endeavor, the MMA industry has thrived and survived through various websites, forums, and – perhaps most importantly – social-media platforms.

Fighters interact with fans, each other and many more through the likes of Twitter, Facebook and Instagram, which helps outsiders get a deeper look into the minds of the athletes.

Following Saturday’s UFC on ESPN+ 20 in Singapore, several of the winning and losing fighters, along with their coaches, training partners or family members, took to social media to react to the event or share a message with supporters.

Check out some of those reactions.

It went pretty well ! 😄 I really enjoyed the fight, and at the same time I gained a lot of experience. It's good that we were able to show all the hard work we put into this at the @mma_factory_paris 🏭 And on top of that we made @danhardymma and @johngoodenuk smile ! 😂 Thank you to @lopez_fernand @tontonmpumbuofficiel and Benjamin for being with me this week, thank you to my family and thank you to all of you that supported me, wherever you are 🙏🏾 . 📸 @mmafightingdotcom

I've never seen coach Markus so nervous at my fights until last night. he asked about "masters warm up routine" multiple times, but even better was Sensei Barral sweating while waiting for us to board the bus to the fights. He really hates cornering 😂. Arthur was my free spirit 🦁 ready for whatever, we even sparred hard before the fight 👊🏽👊🏽 Last night was very special for me because it was the first time I fought without master Rafael with in my corner, but now I know without a ounce of doubt that he is with me in every fight. I could hear all the conversations we had in preparation for this fight. Honestly I couldn't ask for a better family, and im grateful to have everyone with me. Thank you everyone for your support and love. I felt so encouraged reading everyone's messages before the fight. Im sorry if I didn't get back to everyone my text don't work properly in Singapore. I am blessed by all of you. #allglorytoGod✝️ #kingsmma #kingsmmaanaheim #kingsmmafamily #TRB #dominancemma

Had a fun fight tonight, I always knew this fight was going to be tough, Michael Johnson is a beast. He’s beat some of the biggest names in the sport. Tony Ferguson, Edson barboza and Dustin Porier being 3 of them. As far as the fight is concerned I believe I won the 1st round even tho it was fairly close, lost the 2nd round and dominated the 3rd almost getting a finish the ref kept telling Michael to work and in return he was saying he was fine but he was obviously worried it was going to be stopped. 1 thing I proved tonight is that I can mix it up there with the best in the world and aswell as Johnson being a tough motherfucker so am I! Also tried to make it an exciting fight for the fans. So hope use enjoyed it. I worked extremely hard this fight camp 12/13 weeks of hard hard work. I first got the win half way through this camp on one of the biggest grappling shows in the world Polaris Professional Jiu Jitsu Invitational with a good flashy submission over paddy pimblett and now tonight a massive win over Johnson. Looking forward to getting home on Monday and having some downtime with my family i owe it to them after I’ve been busy working hard for the past 3 months! Thanks to my coach James Doolan and all my team, my management, sponsors, everyone at the ufc, all of my family, friends and fans for the support. It means a lot. This is one of the toughest jobs in the world highs and low’s but I always do my best and try to represent our nation 🏴󠁧󠁢󠁳󠁣󠁴󠁿 🇬🇧 ❤️ The journey continues…….

Thank you all very much for the support, and for the countless kind mensagens I received! Last night meant a lot to me, cause it’s no secret that representing Brazilian Jiu Jitsu 🇧🇷 it’s more than a mission for me, it’s a life long choice that I made. You don’t represent a martial art only by fighting, let alone winning, you do it day by day, trough the examples we set and the legacy we leave for other people. I feel privileged to be able to deliver my best and represent our martial art. Thank you all from the bottom of my heart. Thank you @benaskren as well, for the fight and for giving me the opportunity to challenge myself and continue to seek my evolution. He is a very high level athlete, a U.S. National Champ in Wrestling, and a former Olympic athlete. I have a lot of respect for him, and to compete against him was a challenge that drove us to our max, seeking new alternatives and ideas to develop a different strategy, revisiting techniques and changing habits. It was a privilege to have had this opportunity, and I still intend to one day have also the privilege to train a bit with him. Thank you all again! 📷 by: @eduardo_alonso
