UFC on ESPN+ 14: Vicente Luque expects to feel at home in Uruguay

UFC welterweight Vicente Luque wasn’t born in Uruguay and he doesn’t live there. Despite this, the Brazilian-American fighter believes he’ll be the home-crowd favorite at UFC on ESPN+ 14.

UFC on ESPN+ 14 takes place Saturday at Antel Arena in Montevideo, the capital city of Uruguay. The card streams on ESPN+.

“In Uruguay, I expect to feel at home,” Luque told MMA Junkie. “It’s very close to Brazil, so there will be many Brazilians in attendance. Since I also speak Spanish, due to my Latin American roots, I feel that will also help. I think we will see fans from Chile too.

“I’ve fought at home before – in Brasilia, close to where I grew up, and in New York, close to where I was born. I’ve also fought in Santiago, Chile, where my father was born. It always generates a little extra incentive during training to have a great victory for the local fans.”

Riding a five-fight winning streak, Luque (16-6-1 MMA, 9-2 UFC) will square off with “Platinum” Mike Perry (13-4 MMA, 7-4 UFC) in the co-main event of UFC on ESPN+ 14. The American has won two out of his last three bouts, having defeated Alex Oliveira in his last outing at UFC on ESPN+ 8.
