Saturday night, Valentina Shevchenko (17-3 MMA, 6-2 UFC) will look to defend her flyweight strap for the second time, when she takes on Liz Carmouche (13-6 MMA, 5-4 UFC) at UFC on ESPN+ 14.
UFC on ESPN+ 14 takes place Saturday at Antel Arena in Montevideo, the capital city of Uruguay. The card streams on ESPN+.
At UFC 231 in December, Shevchenko was paired with former UFC strawweight champion Joanna Jedrzejczyk in a fight many elevated to “superfight” status. Shevchenko’s well-rounded attack was enough to earn her the unanimous decision nod after five rounds.
The victory set Shevchenko up for her first title defense at UFC 238 in Chicago, against opponent Jessica Eye. Shevchenko won the bout via second-round head kick.
