UFC on ESPN+ 13: Winning just two weeks prior had John Allan dialed in for UFC debut

SACRAMENTO, Calif. – John Allan beat Mike Rodriguez with a unanimous decision Saturday night to close out the preliminary card at UFC on ESPN+ 13 in Sacramento, Calif.

Take a look inside the fight with Allan, who was the biggest underdog on the card after stepping in on short notice to replace an injured Gian Villante.

Result: John Allan def. Mike Rodriguez via unanimous decision (29-28, 29-28, 30-27)
Updated records: Allan (14-5 MMA, 1-0 UFC), Rodriguez (10-4 MMA, 1-2 UFC)
Key stat: Allan landed four of his nine takedown attempts in the fight.

Allan on the fight’s key moment

“I’m accomplishing my dreams. I’ve worked really hard to be here. He was going to do everything he could to take this from me. I knew that the first round was very close. I knew I needed to go out and win the third round impressively.”

Allan on coming in on short notice two weeks after his most recent win

“I fought only a few weeks ago and I won by knockout, so I felt really prepared to fight a guy like him on short notice. I look forward to fighting in the UFC again.”

Allan on what he wants next

“I want to fight anyone in the top 15. I want to fight in Brazil. Dana White, please give me somebody to fight in Brazil.”
