UFC legend Rampage Jackson would like to "slap some sense" into Conor McGregor

Rampage Jackson has expressed his desire to 'slap some sense' into Conor McGregor after his involvement in an incident in a pub back in 2019.

The American last fought in a crossover event back in 2019 where he defeated fellow MMA legend Fedor Emlianenko, and now looks set to make a return to the boxing ring in a potential contest with Shannon Briggs.

But the 43-year-old has now called out McGregor over his outside of the ring altercation previously, but did also compliment McGregor's overall role in the sport.

“I don’t agree with everything Conor says, but I think he’s great for the sport. You know, at the end of the day he’s an entertainer,” Jackson told Ariel Helwani on MMA Hour.

“In my book, Conor can say and do whatever he wants. He kind of does stuff that makes himself look bad. I’ve never met the guy, but I’m a fan of Conor McGregor for what he’s done for the sport.

"I just wish he would chill out on beating up old men. That ain’t right. I need to slap some sense into Conor McGregor for that s**t."

McGregor has faced further outside of the cage issues since his last fight against Dustin Poirier, including a feud with Khabib Nurmagomedov that resulted in two deleted tweets with one mocking the Russian's late father, and the Irishman also claiming he wants to 'eat Khabib's children'.

The Irishman has been called out by several stars in UFC and in the boxing ring, with Jake Paul claiming a fight 'was close to being agreed', but UFC president Dana White has told Paul that he has 'no chance' of beating McGregor.

And UFC legend Jackson also now faces a return to fighting, with a two-part series in talks to face Briggs later in the year in both the cage and the ring.

“It’s going to be a boxing match and then he says he wants to wait six months later [to do MMA]," Jackson continued.

"I’m telling him that’s too long. We gotta wait two or three months and then do an MMA fight.

“We’re trying to set up the fight for Dec. 4, I signed the paperwork and stuff like that. I think he’s waiting on one of his promotors.

"I’m going to let them promote the boxing match because boxing is different than MMA, right? I don’t know how to promote no boxing match. We’re just waiting on a couple of people, but we have the contracts and stuff drawn up.”

"This guy, for him to be that ugly and that old, he’s very f—king entertaining. He’s fun as hell. This guy is like the boxing version of me, except I’m not as old and ugly as he is.”

McGregor now looks to be in a feud with former UFC heavyweight Daniel Cormier, who he launched a social-media assault at in the last couple of days criticising his commentary skills after he condemned the Irishman's tweets aimed at bitter rival Nurmagomedov.

Nurmagomedov's manager Ali Abdelaziz has been the latest to criticise the 33-year-old telling him to 'sort his life' and 'stop fighting'.
