UFC heavyweight contender Francis Ngannou joins ‘Fast & Furious 9’ cast

Francis Ngannou isn’t only making big waves in the cage.

The top-ranked UFC heavyweight contender will take his skills to the big screen. Deadline reported that “The Predator” will join the cast of the ninth installment of the blockbuster film franchise “The Fast & the Furious.”

Ngannou posted the news on his Instagram account, as well.

Represented by Creative Arts Agency, Ngannou (14-3 MMA, 9-2 UFC) was able to rebound from back-to-back losses to Stipe Miocic and Derrick Lewis. He failed to capture the heavyweight title in a lopsided decision loss to then champion Miocic at UFC 220, followed by a lackluster performance in a loss to Lewis at UFC 226.

But with his back against the wall, he rebounded emphatically with first-round knockouts of Curtis Blaydes and former heavyweight champions Cain Velasquez and Junior Dos Santos.

Ngannou is hungry for another crack at the title. He may not have his next fight booked, but it appears he’s making moves on a different kind of big stage.

Ngannou will be the third MMA fighter to be part of the movie franchise. Former Strikeforce champion Gina Carano took part in “Fast & Furious 6” in 2013. Former UFC women’s bantamweight champ Ronda Rousey was in “Furious 7” in 2015.
