A Scottish fighter has slammed the media for being "disrespectful" towards his country, arguing that his interviews get subtitled because of his accent.
Ultimate Fighting Champion (UFC) fighter Paul Craig is a big name in the field of mixed martial arts, beginning his competitive career in 2013 and is currently ranking at number 9 in the light heavyweight rankings.
But the 33-year-old, from Airdrie, has aired his frustration that when he does interviews in the United States, his fans struggle to understand him.
He added that it was "disrespectful" to Scottish people that he requires an interpreter for certain audiences.
Speaking to Radio Scotland's Off the Ball, he said: "Our trash-talking is tremendous but the issue we have got is nobody can understand it.
“It’s a bit disrespectful when you’re still speaking English and it’s getting broadcast to the English-speaking world and they are subtitling it because they can’t understand it.
“You do a post-fight interview. I’ve had an interpreter relaying what I’ve said. That’s disrespectful to all Scottish people.”
